CyBe prints 5 concrete benches in less than 1 working day

At the request of Dura Vermeer CyBe has printed a series of 5 concrete city benches today. After the print at the exact location in Haarlem, The Netherlands, they were so excited and ordered 5 extra benches. This time the benches were printed in CyBe’s R&Do Lab instead of printing on site. We believe this particular process of serial printing is the way prefab factories will work in the future.

With this project, we applied the technology we develop in our R&Do facility. We’ve challenged ourselves to print the whole series in less than a workday. The print-time of one bench is 35 minutes. Including installing and moving the printer it took us less than 4 hours to print them all. Dura Vermeer uses the benches as a sustainable gift to show their appreciation to their focus clients.

One of the advantages of the software CyBe develops is the ease to change the design. The design of these 5 benches has been improved, compared to the bench in Haarlem, so no wet buttocks anymore! For the city benches printed today, CyBe was responsible for the complete process. Not only the printing, also the design and engineering phase.

The various applications that can be done with the same 3D concrete printer are another advantage. Printing these benches has been done with the same Cybe RC3dp printer as we used for the R&Drone Laboratory and manholes. Our printer serves various markets.

Benefits

Design changes

One of the advantages of the software CyBe develops is the ease to change the design. From the responses on the bench in Haarlem we’ve heard the bench was much curved at the seat. After a rainy day the water was still on the bench. For the series of the 5 benches we improved the design. So no wet buttocks anymore!

Serial Production

This technique enables the possibility to produce up to 30 of the benches per day – or up to ten in 1 working day. We believe this particular process of serial printing is the way prefab factories will work in the future.

Manoeuvrable printer

CyBe Construction has developed the first mobile 3D Concrete printer which is able to move on caterpillar tracks: the CyBe RC 3Dp. This makes it easy to 3D print on-site. The mobile printed also has a high printing speed and an extended printing range.
